In this episode of A Changed Mind, David Bayer breaks down the golden equation behind manifestation—Desire + Non-Resistance = Desired Result—and reveals why most people sabotage their own goals without realizing it.
David unpacks the paradox that trips up so many high achievers: how to hold a burning desire while staying completely unattached to its absence. Drawing on Napoleon Hill and Neville Goddard, he explains that fixating on what hasn’t happened yet keeps you locked in the very lack you’re trying to escape. The real work, he argues, isn’t visualization or passive wishing—it’s taking consistent daily action while learning to recognize and dissolve resistance the moment it shows up.
To make resistance tangible, David introduces the Two States of Being: Primal states (stress, anxiety, frustration, shame) governed by the sympathetic nervous system, and Powerful states (joy, curiosity, peace, enthusiasm) governed by the parasympathetic system. He gets personal about his own primal triggers—health scares, unmet expectations, marketing campaigns that don’t perform—and walks through the thought-emotion chain that pulls him out of alignment. The conversation ties this directly to behavioral psychology: what you believe shapes what you think, what you think shapes what you feel, and what you feel shapes what you do.
The episode moves into David’s own transformation story: getting sober through the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous in his early 30s, the serendipitous Miami airport moment where he discovered the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism, and the chain of “coincidences” that led him to Kingdom Principles and Think and Grow Rich. He connects these teachings—Christ’s “turn the other cheek,” Buddhism’s eightfold path, AA’s twelve steps—as different maps to the same territory: healing isn’t about excavating the past, but about working with the beliefs showing up in your life right now.
