If someone were to ask me how to get unstuck, change their life, achieve any goal, or create their own reality, I would walk them through a framework. That’s one of the biggest problems with personal growth today—it’s a lot of motivation, a lot of inspiration, and a lot of ideas that sound good when you say them fast. “Change your beliefs,” “Shift your perspective,” “Rewire your brain.” These are all great concepts, but without a clear framework, it’s like being put on a football field and told, “Scoring is easy. Just pass the defense and run into the end zone.” Yeah, thanks. But how?
The how is the framework. And what I’m about to give you isn’t just theory—it’s real-world, practical application. It integrates both ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience into a step-by-step process for creating real change. It’s the difference between getting hyped up and hoping life changes, and actually crushing it in the game of life.
Here are the six steps:
Step One: Desire as the Catalyst
All change begins with desire. Desire is the spark that ignites transformation. Maybe you want to make more money, heal your body, or find a soulmate. Desire clarifies your target. And there are two ways desire is born: seeing something you want, or experiencing something you don’t want. Both are gifts. Problems, in fact, are not problems—they are seeds of desire. The aches in your body clarify your desire for health. The loneliness clarifies your desire for love. The financial stress clarifies your desire for wealth. Instead of focusing on the problem, shift your attention to the desire it reveals. As Einstein said, “You can’t solve a problem with the same level of consciousness that created it.” Problems come to pass, and the gift they leave behind is clarity.
When you start looking at problems this way, life changes. Suddenly the thing you thought was ruining your life becomes the very thing guiding you to the next version of yourself. When I was broke and ashamed, I thought my financial struggles were my greatest curse. But now I see they were the seed of my desire for abundance, which led me to everything I’ve built today. Desire isn’t random. It’s not frivolous. It’s the compass of your soul pointing you forward.
Step Two: The Power of Decision
Desire without decision is fantasy. Once you know what you want, you must decide you’ll have it. Decision is the cause, and the how is the effect. Most people get stuck because they think they need the how before they can commit. But the moment you decide, life reorganizes around you. Your reticular activating system—the part of your brain that filters reality—kicks in. Suddenly, you notice solutions, opportunities, and synchronicities you never saw before. You attract the right people and circumstances. Decision rewires your brain and body, making your future feel real now.
A Harvard study showed that imagining playing the piano lights up the same brain regions as actually playing. Your brain doesn’t know the difference between imagination and reality. When you decide, you’re literally recording a memory of a future that hasn’t happened yet. That’s how you become the person who already has the outcome.
I’ve lived this over and over again. When I decided to get sober, I had no idea how I’d survive without alcohol. But that decision set everything else in motion—finding a sponsor, working the steps, rebuilding my life. When I decided to launch my first business, I had no capital and no roadmap. But the decision itself opened doors. Without decision, you’re stuck in hesitation and half-measures. With decision, you become unstoppable.
Step Three: Live in Non-Resistance
Here’s the master equation: Desire + Non-Resistance = Desired Result. Once you’ve decided, your job is not to wrestle the problem to the ground, but to stay loyal to the desire. Non-resistance means refusing to entangle with limiting beliefs, doubts, or fears. It’s about faith, trust, and flexibility. Things won’t go according to your plan—but that’s okay. Life will forge the path. Your role is to stay steady, like bamboo in the wind—strong but flexible. Non-resistance doesn’t mean passivity. It means taking action without attachment, allowing the how to reveal itself. When I set out to host my first seminar, I desired 300 people. Everyone told me it was unrealistic. But I stayed loyal. By the week of the event, synchronicities aligned and over 330 people showed up. Desire and decision created the vision. Non-resistance allowed it to manifest.
This step is where most people quit. They decide, but then resistance creeps in. They start doubting, second-guessing, or comparing themselves to others. They try to control every detail, and when it doesn’t go according to plan, they collapse. Non-resistance is about staying in the game even when things look uncertain. It’s choosing to trust that life is conspiring in your favor. The more you practice it, the stronger your container becomes. Eventually, you realize that resistance was never protecting you—it was only blocking your progress.
Step Four: Act as Your Future Self
Now comes action—but not ordinary action. You take action as your future self, the version of you who has already accomplished the outcome. Confidence doesn’t come from achieving the goal; the goal is achieved because you act with confidence now. For two years, I acted like someone with a million listeners on his podcast. I recorded, studied, optimized—even when only a few hundred people were listening. I asked myself, “What would the person I want to become do?” And I did that. Eventually, the audience grew into the millions.
This step is about embodying your future self today. If you wake up and act broke, you’ll stay broke. If you wake up and act like the person who is wealthy, healthy, and fulfilled, life has no choice but to catch up.
This is where embodiment matters. When you step into the energy of your future self, you create resonance between who you are now and who you’re becoming. It’s like tuning an instrument. At first, it feels off. But the more you practice, the more you vibrate at the frequency of the life you desire. Before long, your external world aligns to match your internal state. That’s why so many successful people say, “I was being this person long before I had the results.” They weren’t faking it. They were rehearsing their future into reality.
Step Five: Monitor Your Speed
The mind moves fast. It pulls you into stress, overwhelm, and anxiety. This is hustle culture. But speed is a signal—you’re entangled with limiting beliefs. The Rosicrucians, a spiritual order from the 1600s, said the mind is fast and cold, while the heart is slow and warm. Your job is to slow down. Notice when you’re in a primal state—fear, doubt, anger—and downshift into a powerful state—gratitude, calm, love. Use breathwork, grounding, movement, or simply awareness to reset your nervous system. Because from primal states, you self-sabotage. From powerful states, you create. Monitoring your speed is the key to staying aligned and preventing burnout.
I can’t overstate how important this is. Every time I burned out, it was because I ignored my speedometer. I let the mind race, and I confused chaos for productivity. But the truth is, slow is smooth and smooth is fast. When you slow down enough to choose your state, your actions become ten times more effective. This is how you escape the endless cycle of hustle and exhaustion and step into sustainable creation.
Step Six: Progress, Not Perfection
Finally, embrace progress over perfection. You won’t do this perfectly. You’ll fall back into old patterns. But every time you notice and return to the framework, you’re growing. Problems reveal new desires. Decisions rewrite your future. Non-resistance builds trust. Acting as your future self creates momentum. Monitoring your speed restores alignment. And progress compounds. Over time, this process becomes automatic—an unconscious competency. It transforms not just your finances or relationships, but your entire life. Health, purpose, love, and fulfillment flow as natural byproducts.
This step is about grace. If you expect perfection, you’ll quit the first time you stumble. But if you see every stumble as proof that you’re in the process, you’ll keep going. Over time, the compounding effect is extraordinary. What felt impossible a year ago becomes second nature. What once triggered you doesn’t even faze you anymore. That’s progress. That’s transformation. That’s the reward of staying committed to the framework.
This six-step framework is not just theory—it’s a practice. It’s the roadmap for creating your reality. If you’re willing to apply it, to live it, and to return to it again and again, you’ll discover that nothing is impossible. Desire it. Decide it. Stay non-resistant. Act as your future self. Slow down. And embrace progress. That’s how you crush it in the game of life.
