Let’s be honest—how many of us set big goals, only to find ourselves achieving just a fraction of them? Year after year, it’s the same story. Incremental improvements, sure, but nothing close to the vision we originally had.
If that resonates with you, you’re not alone. And here’s the good news: you can change that. What I’m about to share has absolutely transformed my life. It’s a five-step framework that combines neuroscience, behavioral psychology, and even quantum field theory. Over the last eight years, I’ve gone from having no money in my bank account and two homes in foreclosure to building a $30 million transformational company. I’m married to the woman of my dreams and living a life I once thought was impossible.
This isn’t just theory. This framework works whether you’re a peak performance junkie or someone who leans more spiritual. So, let’s dive in.
Step 1: Get Clear on What You Want
Clarity is where it all begins. Think about it: most people enter the new year hyper-focused on what they didn’t like about the last one. “I don’t want to be overweight anymore.” “I don’t want financial stress.” But here’s the thing: all change starts with a desire for something, not a desire to get away from something.
I’ll give you a personal example. About 14 years ago, I’d been single for 10 years. It was the end of the year, and I decided I was ready for a relationship. But not just any relationship—I wanted to meet a beautiful Colombian woman and make her my wife. That wasn’t a reaction to being lonely; it came from a place of excitement and clarity. And guess what? Within two weeks, through a series of synchronicities, I met Carol, who would become my wife.
This principle applies to every area of life. Napoleon Hill called it a “burning desire.” Neville Goddard talked about the power of imagination. You have to know what you want and get as clear as possible about it. Whether it’s in your health, your relationships, or your business, clarity is key.
Step 2: Let Go of Resistance
Most people think of New Year’s resolutions as a wish list—like writing a letter to Santa. But the word “resolution” actually comes from “resolve,” meaning to complete or let go of something. And that’s the real work. It’s about letting go of the psychology, neurology, and habits of thought that kept you stuck last year.
When I first started my podcast, I struggled with resistance. The first few episodes had barely any listeners, and I started to question myself: “What am I doing wrong?” Episode after episode, the numbers stayed the same. I kept making the underperformance matter, and that resistance blocked me.
Then, something shifted. When my son was born, my focus changed completely. Suddenly, the podcast’s performance didn’t matter as much. And wouldn’t you know it? Around episode 46, the numbers exploded. We went from 5,000 listeners a month to a million. That’s the power of letting go of resistance. What you make matter becomes matter.
If you’re holding onto stories like “I’m not good enough” or “It’s not going to work out for me,” that’s your resistance. Letting go of those stories is crucial.
Step 3: Trust the Process and Embrace Synchronicity
A lot of people think they need to know exactly how to achieve their goals. But the truth is, you don’t. Life has a way of coordinating the “how” if you’re clear on your “what” and let go of resistance.
Here’s how it works: The moment you have a desire, you activate the quantum field. Synchronicities, ideas, and coincidences start aligning to bring that desire into your reality. Neville Goddard called this creating from the fourth dimension.
For example, when I decided I wanted to meet my future wife, I didn’t have a detailed plan. I just trusted the process. Two weeks later, I ended up in Sarasota, Florida, for a friend’s birthday. That night, I met Carol—not because I had a step-by-step plan, but because I stayed open to life’s coordination.
The key is to stay non-resistant and allow the plan to unfold. When you’re in that flow state, you’ll be amazed at how life brings you exactly what you need.
Step 4: Take Daily Inspired Action
This isn’t about sitting on the couch and waiting for things to happen. Action is essential, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Consistent, small steps create momentum.
When I started my podcast, I committed to recording one episode a week. That simple consistency laid the foundation for its eventual success. The same goes for any goal. Whether it’s improving your health, growing your business, or enhancing your relationships, daily inspired action is the key.
Remember what Eisenhower said: “Plans are useless, but planning is essential.” Create a roadmap, but don’t get too attached to it. Life often has a better plan than the one you start with.
Step 5: Be Flexible and Learn from Setbacks
Setbacks are part of the process. They’re not failures; they’re feedback. Often, they’re life’s way of asking, “How committed are you?”
For example, you might set a goal to improve your fitness and end up facing an injury. Or you’ll aim to grow your revenue and lose a key client. These challenges aren’t signs to give up. They’re opportunities to recalibrate and grow.
Flexibility also means being kind to yourself. Progress isn’t always linear, and that’s okay. What matters is staying committed to your vision.
Wrapping It All Up
Here’s the framework:
- Get Clear on What You Want: Clarity is the catalyst for all change.
- Let Go of Resistance: Drop the limiting beliefs and stories holding you back.
- Trust the Process: Life will orchestrate the “how” if you stay aligned with your “what.”
- Take Daily Action: Small, consistent steps lead to big results.
- Be Flexible: Learn from setbacks and stay committed to your vision.
This isn’t just about setting goals; it’s about transforming your life. When you align your desires with inspired action and trust in the process, you’ll experience breakthroughs you never thought possible.
So, what do you want to create this year? Are you ready to let go of what’s holding you back and step into a new reality? The future is full of goodness, and it’s waiting for you to claim it. Let’s make this the year everything changes.
