Today, I’m going to share with you five critical distinctions that you need to understand if you want to use your mind to create powerfully in your life. These five principles are not just concepts; they’re a framework that has allowed me to create a life and business I love—a $30 million transformational coaching company, helping people all over the world.
If you’ve been trying to transform your limiting beliefs, read the books, attended events, and still feel stuck, this is for you. Let’s dive in.
Desire: The Catalyst for All Change
What do you want? That’s where it all starts. Everything you want to create begins with desire. In all our coaching conversations, we start with one question: What do you want to create? Is it more financial abundance? A soulmate? A healthy body? Ease and flow in your business? More high-paying clients? Better pay in your career? What is it you want?
Here’s a writer-downer: Desire is the catalyst for all change.
The moment you have a desire, all of creation begins to respond to help you organize that desire and bring it into your reality. The people, circumstances, and opportunities begin to align. Even the unconscious minds of others become influenced. That’s why, when you think about a resource you need, it often shows up or someone crosses your path who can help. There’s a vast architecture of intelligence at work.
Here’s the thing: You don’t know what you want until you experience what you don’t want. Let’s say you’ve been struggling financially. That creates a desire for financial abundance. If you’ve been feeling alone, it creates a desire for connection. If you’ve been unwell, it creates a desire for health.
Let me share a story. Years ago, I realized I wanted extraordinary friendships. I was attending events, seeing amazing speakers, but I felt isolated. Instead of focusing on what I didn’t have, I shifted my attention to what I wanted. Within weeks, I got a call from someone inviting me to a mastermind. There, I met Garrett Gunderson, who became one of my closest friends. That’s the power of desire.
Decision: The Power to Commit
Once you’re clear on your desire, the next step is decision. You need to decide that your desire will become your reality. Not might. Will.
Neville Goddard, one of the great teachers of transformation, said that once you have a desire, it already exists in a realm of potential. He called this the fourth dimension. It’s a space where everything you want exists but hasn’t yet materialized in the third dimension. When you decide, you align yourself with that potential.
Here’s the key: The decision comes first; the how comes second.
Most people hesitate to decide because they think they need to know how it will happen. But the truth is, you don’t need to know the how. When my wife and I decided to host our first live event, we had no idea how we’d fill the room. But the decision activated ideas, synchronicities, and opportunities. Before we knew it, we had 330 people at our first event.
Science backs this up. Studies have shown that when you imagine something, your brain lights up as if you were actually doing it. By deciding and imagining, you’re rewiring your brain for your desired future. This is why great athletes visualize their success. Your brain doesn’t know the difference between imagination and reality.
Discernment: Following Life’s Clues
Once you’ve made a decision, life begins to leave you clues. This is where discernment comes in. You’ll notice opportunities, people, or situations that align with your desire. Your job is to act on them.
Here’s the truth: Life is always playing pitch and catch with you. But not every opportunity will immediately lead to your goal. Sometimes, the process is about refinement. Early in my career, I launched several campaigns that didn’t work. But each attempt taught me something valuable and brought me closer to success.
Life is always organizing itself to support you. But it’s not linear. Sometimes, what seems like a failure is actually redirection. Trust the process, and keep moving forward.
Relax Through the Contrast
Let’s talk about contrast—those moments when things don’t go as planned. These experiences aren’t failures; they’re part of the process.
When I first started my business, I went through about a dozen failed campaigns before finding one that worked. Each failure taught me lessons and refined my approach. Life is like a training simulation. It’s preparing you for the success you’re building toward.
Think of it like childbirth. There are contractions and expansions—moments of intense effort followed by relief. This cycle can be challenging, but it’s leading to the creation of something miraculous. The key is to stay patient and trust the process.
Relax through the contrast. Don’t give up too soon. I often tell people to give their desires 30 to 90 days to unfold. Life is organizing all the cooperative components, and you’re going through a recalibration process.
Faith: Trust the System
Finally, we come to faith. Faith in yourself. Faith in the process. Faith in the unseen intelligence that governs life.
Here’s what I believe: Life is rigged in your favor. Whether you call it God, the universe, or the quantum field, there’s a system at work that supports you. Your desires are heard. Your actions are supported. But doubt is the one thing that can block this process.
When you have faith, you operate from a place of calm and joy. You’re no longer in fight-or-flight mode but in a state of rest, relaxation, and anticipation. This shift in energy makes all the difference.
Faith is what allows you to enjoy the journey, not just the destination. And isn’t that the ultimate goal? To not only create the life you want but to savor every step of the way?
Embrace the Framework
These five principles—desire, decision, discernment, relaxing through contrast, and faith—are the keys to creating the life you want. They’ve worked for me, and they’ll work for you too.
So, let me ask you: What do you desire? Decide that it’s already yours. Watch for the clues life sends you. Stay patient through the challenges. And trust that the system is working in your favor.
You have everything you need to create a life you love. Now, go out there and make it happen.
