Discovering Your Life Purpose

SUMMARY

In this video I provide the 6 Keys to Discovering Your Life Purpose.

People talk about wanting to ‘find’ their life purpose. I don’t believe that there is anything that needs to be found, but rather your purpose needs to be let out. Life is this extraordinary scavenger hunt whereby Spirit comes into the body and, while we initially forget who we are and what we came here do to, life gives us the clues to help guide us towards our ultimate creative intention.  We begin as creation, and come into the world to allow creation to emerge from us.  To create in the image of the creator. This is the concept of ‘returning home’ that spiritual teachers speak of – it is the parable in the Bible of the Prodigal Son.  The Divine story is truly a beautiful one.  So in effect, there’s nothing to go find, only something to rediscover; to Self discover.

I believe we all come here with an extraordinary set of gifts and talents that we are meant to use to create something very special and unique which only we are meant to bring into the world. If you have an idea about something, that idea was ‘given’ to you to take action towards accomplishing.  That’s the insanity of jealousy or wishing you were doing what someone else was doing – what they are doing is not for you to do, it’s for them to do. While you’re distracted by what others are doing you are missing the clues about your life mission – how you can best serve the world and create the quality of life you’ve always dreamed of.  Here are the six areas or clues that you can become more aware of to get clarity on what your purpose is:

1- Know Your Why.
Your spirit is eternal.  It is the only unchanging aspect of yourself. As children we are fully spirit or self-expressed.  We lived in the zone.  We didn’t live in all the stories, or limiting belies that we accumulated over time.  Whatever the things you loved doing as a child are the same types of things that you would love doing now.  But, likely, you’re not.  As we’ve attracted the static of life, the stories and beliefs of others, all the things we should do in order to be successful, we’ve lost touch with our authentic self-expression.  As a high school student I would create movies for school projects rather than writing term papers.  A small group of friends and I would take existing concepts, ideas or stories and present them in an entirely new way that was educational, empowering and entertaining for our fellow students.  Throughout my life I lost touch with this essence of what I really enjoyed doing.  I became a successful Internet entrepreneur because I thought that’s what I should do.  Despite my successes, I was unhappy and, if you know my story, you know it led to a breakdown.  But in my breakthrough I’ve returned to my self-expression.  What I really love doing is inspiring others so that we can create a whole new way. It may sound sort of fluffy at first, but ultimately if I’m not living according to that inspiration, I’m not being truly fulfilled.  My work today is based on that Why statement.  In my work I take various aspects of spirituality, psychology, neuroscience, metaphysics and personal development and weave it into something beautiful, empowering and extraordinary that serves tens of thousands of people.  I’ve found my path back to who I really was, I’ve returned to my purpose.

2- Identify Your Gifts & Talents. We each have our own unique gifts and talents.  I’m articulate, have a strong public presence, am a phenomenal speaker, have the ability to take complicated concepts and simplify them, and inspire others.  But I can’t cook or paint if my life depended on it.  I’m not the most empathetic person in the world (I’m working on it).  But you might be. We all have something that we are uniquely gifted at and it would just make sense that we should be using these gifts that were given to us every day to serve the world.  It’s logical to believe that whatever it is that you excel at doing and enjoy doing are the gifts that you should leverage in living your purpose.  If you’re not leveraging your unique gifts and talents in your day to day efforts, you’re not making the effort or doing the things that are most aligned with who you are.  If you’re a Ferrari you need to get on the highway.  If you’re a four-wheel drive vehicle you need to be off road.  If you’re a great leaper you need to get on the basketball court.  Identify your gifts, and get in the right game.

3- Look at the Challenges in Your Life. I believe our Creator sets us up for victory through the challenges that we experience in our lives.  Life is riddled with challenging times but it’s through the challenges that we grow, stretch, learn and develop the wisdom to reign triumphant in the future.  Most of the time, many of us try to forget about the challenges in our lives, just being thankful that we got through it.  The mistake of forgetting the challenges of the past is that they are tremendous evidence for why we are capable of doing what we are meant to do.  If it weren’t for my breakdown 5 years ago I would never have discovered the frameworks that I teach for living life powerfully.  If I had not hit bottom I would never have made the decision to look up to see how high I could climb.  Look back at the challenges that you’ve overcome – it is your resume for why you are the perfect candidate for your dreams.

4- Pay Attention to Life.
Our Creator has designed this system to leave us breadcrumbs as clues to our way back to living life in alignment with who we really are. Often times they aren’t just breadcrumbs, they are loaves of bread that pave the way – we’re just too caught up in our heads, worrying out how we’re going to get to the next level of success, get out of debt, get out of fat, consumed with our email or Facebook feeds or checking out of life by overeating, overdrinking, overworking, and over-everything. When you get present to life, life speaks to you through other people, places and things.  For years I heard the whisper of my purpose calling to me but I ignored it.  People would tell me how inspirational I was and how much I reminded them of Tony Robbins, but I paid no attention. Finally my life got so uncomfortable that I chose to respond to my calling.  But I don’t think it requires a breakdown to have a breakthrough.  Start paying attention to what you’re observing in life. Be present for what other people say, or to notice what you take notice of.  The world is reflecting back to you significant signals to point you along your path – you just need to pay a little attention to it.

5- Have Gratitude.
As people begin to awaken to their purpose, many feel the discomfort of wanting to happen immediately.  They want to get away from where they are and get over to another place called ‘what I really want to be doing’.  This often creates resistance and the infinite intelligence that bring us the circumstances, people and resources that we want in our life does not respond resistance other than to continue the resistance.  They key to getting where you want to go is to have gratitude for where you are.  Appreciate all that where you are has offered you – the people, the prosperity, the skill set development, the support.  As we live in a vibration of gratitude we allow all of the assistance of the universe into our lives.  Where we want to go pulls us into it effortlessly.  Know where you want to go, but have gratitude for where you are.  It’s the fastest route from here to there.

6- Ask and You Shall Receive. Perhaps the most extraordinary abilities of mankind is the power to ask and receive an answer.  When I first realized that I was being called to a greater calling but wasn’t quite clear what it was, I asked.  I didn’ ask and then wonder why I didn’t have an answer yet.  I asked each day how I could serve in a larger capacity that would leverage my gifts and talents and allow me to live life fully self expressed in the service of the world.  As I asked, I start noticing things about life.  I started having thoughts about what I could do that would be truly enjoyable for me while supporting others.  I was given ideas in response to my asking.  There is an amazing call and response relationship that we have with the unseen that allows us to ask, and to receive an answer.  Not just an answer, mind you, but all of the resources and people required to bring your purpose into the world.  If you are wondering how you can serve a larger purpose, your life purpose, I encourage you to ask, and be still.  In the stillness of life the answers will come, and guide you towards your ultimate realization.

I truly want to support you in your pursuit of your life purpose and encourage you to consider these 6 Keys to discovering yours.  Please let me know if you have an questions and how I can serve you.  Many Blessings!
